My passion for food began at a young age when I picked the green olives off of fresh pizzas in Italy before my parents could snag a slice, when peaches grew on a branch outside and blackberry cobbler was my favorite summer treat. I remember small white blossoms turning into the most petit and adorable strawberries, drooping from a terracotta pot on our Texas patio. Once in Arizona, my Dad’s passion for Southwestern cuisine allowed me to grow up with a deep love for spicy food. His salsas would accompany my Mom’s enchiladas for an al fresco party. When my Dad makes his homemade puttanesca, it is (and always was) viewed almost as a holiday, and we frequently request our Mom’s famous sweet and sour meatballs. I grew up in the kitchen, learning my family’s recipes, and later, creating my own.
In my free time I enjoy cooking, traveling and entertaining. This blog will share with you each of those, including seasonal recipes and my latest adventures cooking at home and abroad. I love Smitten Kitchen, Sunset Magazine, anything by David Lebovitz, and I have a hefty kitchen and cookbook wish list. My curiosity for food and the world around me is constantly growing, and I’m happy to share this journey with you.
